Principal Message

Meet Mr. King

I was born in Payson, UT and spent my elementary years moving around. My family settled down and I graduated from North Sevier High School in 1990, earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Weber State University, and completed my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy from University of Utah.

I have been married more than 25 years to the love of my life Sara. I met her while working at Herman’s Sporting Goods when she came into handout fliers for a big ski sale. We became good friends, and her family was a great support to me as I prepared to serve a mission for my church. I spent two years in Belgium and Holland and when I returned, we picked up where we left off. We were married in June of 1996. Sara stayed home for most of our early marriage teaching piano, raising our five kids, and keeping things sane. She Went back to school and received a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Weber State and teaches 6th grade at Vae View Elementary.

Our youngest daughter was born on our anniversary. She attends Clearfield High where she participates in Jazz Band, symphonic Band, and many other activities. She currently wants to be a preschool special education teacher when she grows up.

Walter will attends Clearfield High. He enjoys all things athletic. He wrestles for his school. He is unsure of what he wants to be when he grows up. He is a Green Bay Packers Fan, as are the other members of our family.

Bianca served mission for our church in Denver. She loved theater in high school and took tap dance lessons for many years. She loves Vans and Cons and has way more shoes than a body needs. She is working as a dental assistant and attending school through the BYU Pathways program. She wants to be a dentist when she grows up. She is engaged to get married in January 2024.

My son Baxter played football at Clearfield High was a valedictorian and was attending Utah State University when died by suicide in 2019. His passing has left a huge whole in our family. Because of his example we try to honor his memory by doing kind things. #BeKind4Bax.

Trevor is my oldest and is married to an amazing lady Leanna. They live in the Layton area and have a daughter Addie and son Logan who are the lights of our lives. They both graduated from BYU- Idaho. Trevor served a mission in Lima Peru. Leanna and Trevor are both employed in the Medicare Insurance field.

I have been in education for 25+ years, I am honored to be the principal of Lucile C. Reading Elementary School. This will be my 8th year as a principal. Prior to working at Reading, I served as principal of Cook Elementary in Syracuse for six years. I worked as the Early Head Start Manager for 9.5 years. I was an Intern at Sand Springs for 1.5 years. My teaching background includes kindergarten and science for grades 3rd to 6th during my seven years in the classroom. I loved teaching kindergarten. Since I was in 9th grade, I knew I wanted to be an educator specifically a Kindergarten teacher. I also knew that someday I wanted to be a principal. I love what I do. I believe all children have the right to learn and progress. Partnerships between families, communities and schools are the best way to provide children with opportunities to grow and develop. Technology will play a huge role in our student’s future, and we are responsible to provide students meaningful experiences with technology. I look forward to working with the community, the outstanding students, and teachers at Reading Elementary.

It is privilege to be an elementary school principal. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns about our school.
