Mission Statement

The mission of Reading Elementary is to promote learning first for all.  To accomplish our mission we are committed to:

  • working collaboratively in biweekly DCT meetings.

  • focusing on mastery of standards through ongoing data analysis and development of common formative assessments.

  • holding high expectations of teachers and students.

  • providing a safe environment for all students and stakeholders.

  • partnering with our community to enhance learning and provide excellent educational opportunities for all students.

Lucile C. Reading Elementary is located in north Centerville.  The student population is approximately 530 students.  Reading Elementary enrolls students from south Farmington as well as north Centerville.  Reading Elementary is known for high student achievement.  Standardized testing scores are consistently above the district average.  Students excel due to outstanding teachers working closely with supportive parents.   Students come well-prepared to meet the academic challenges that their teachers place upon them.  In addition to academic excellence, there is a strong emphasis on the well-balanced child.  A school musical is presented each year with over 100 students involved.  The PTA is a strong force within the school and provides support to parents, students and administration.  Each grade level participates in service learning projects and presents different musical productions annually.

The school’s mascot is the Wrangler and the school colors are blue, red and white.  Students at Reading love to come to school because they feel safe here and know many adults are here to support and care for them as they continue to learn and grow.

We anticipate fostering success for every student, including academic achievement, development of strong character traits, talents and self-confidence.  We invite you to come along and enjoy the fun!  It's going to be a great year at Reading Elementary School!
